If you sin, God will address your sin. He has done so through His Son for your salvation. If you do not accept that, He has arranged for a judgment at the Great White Throne (Rev 20:11-15).
I often discuss church fathers whom have given their all for Christ through faith in Christ. Above all, I try to highlight Christ and all that He has done. Chief among the accomplishments of Christ and our forefathers is to show us that we too can serve Christ even in the most extreme of circumstances. I pray that whomever I mention be it Polycarp, Luther or even Tyndale who died to give the people of England the Word of God in English that you focus upon Christ. In Christ we have all these testimonies. Because Jesus is the Son of God the Father, He was no respecter of men (Acts 10:34) which would include Abraham, Isaac, David, Moses and any church father you could mention.
In religion today we have a myriad of choices for worship. Every one seems to have a man at its center regardless where you turn. From Catholicism’s choice of a Pope, or even a local parish priest to Mormonisms Joseph Smith and Brigham Young or Islam’s Muhammad, they are all men who have or will die. This is true even in the neo-evangelical (liberal Christian) circles where people flock to charismatic personalities, or even choose a pastor because he allows your children to have fun in services, or a family is not confronted on their sinful activities when made public. No, none of these are what Jesus would condone.
In the temple, Jesus took specific and direct action to empty it of ungodly or untoward activity. Man, woman and child where shewed from the temple. In public, yes public settings Jesus regularly called out wrong ideas and attitudes. We presume most of these challenges came from spiritual leaders in the temples or while He taught in the countrysides, but there are places (even in John 8) where it is unclear who challenged Him. In every case He confronted this reprehensible behavior with direct truth.
If one came to Him as Nicodemus did, even if they completely misunderstood and asked direct questions, He answered lovingly but factually (John 3:1). Make no mistake, Jesus always answered in truth and because mankind had so messed up faith, misrepresented the Godhead and distorted the truth of a Heavenly existance and how that should be paralleled on earth.
Ladies and gentlemen, we work hard to make and orient our lives around our desires and comfort instead of implement God in our lives. Truely it is wicked, but don’t be disheartened, it is normal for us. Our response to these truths speaks volumes. Do we choose to humble ourselves as Nicodemus and seek to re-orient our lives properly? Regardless the world’s pressure on us, we must seek to serve and please God by implementing and exemplifying Christ.
